10 Fashion Must-Do’s While On Mr. Toad’s Economic Wild Ride
Obama, take note: The economy is killing my closet!
Typically, I’m cautious about buying trendy items. This approach has served me well as I’ve had to watch ever dollar while riding out this economy. But trendy aside my closet needs a spruce-up. Spring is here and summer’s soon on the way. It’s been six seasons without a major closet tuneup and my closet needs help.
So for us fashionistas on a very limited budget here are 10 picks that make the best fashion sense, give the most bang for your buck, and let you step fashionably into spring.
- Get in the Pink! Pull that sweater, skirt or blouse out of the closet and wear it with gusto. Pair with white, black, beige, brown or yellow.
- Pants in bold brights or prints. Pair them with something subdued and tonal on the top.
- The Clutch is back. Its this season’s bag of choice.
- Silver shoe – pump, sandal, dress, or flat. This one detail gives you a modern of-the-moment look.
- Prints! Blouse or dress; bold or low key.
- Tribal prints. Great look whether head to toe or just adding a scarf.
- Yellow! Bold, bright, happy. Pair it with blue, black, brown, white.
- Sporty. Rethink that tennis skirt or shirt. Reimagine that warm-up jacket.
- Dramatic earrings. Welcome big, bold designs.
- Makeup – the defined brow. Anastasia does it best.

Where to shop? For brows Anastasia is the best. Watch carefully how the brow is done and before you leave the chair get instruction on how to keep them up. There’s nothing prettier than well-maintained brows. They frame your face and add “zing” to the simplest look.
Then go to TJ Maxx for everything else. From sportswear, to shoes, to jewerly, you’ll find all the hotest looks mentioned here. Marshalls is also a great place to shop. Both let you be fashion forward and wallet friendly.
